Learner Journey

This flexible online programme allows learners to study at their own pace with dedicated tutor support throughout. The qualification includes 60 Guided Learning Hours (GLH) and a Total Qualification Time (TQT) of approximately 120 hours, which can be completed flexibly around your work and personal commitments. Most learners complete the course within three to six months, depending on individual availability and pace.

From the outset, learners gain access to an intuitive online learning platform featuring a wide range of interactive resources, including video tutorials, digital workbooks, examples and knowledge checks. Ongoing support is provided through regular tutor contact, offering personalised feedback, guidance and opportunities to reinforce learning.

The course is structured across three core units, designed to build a strong foundation in teaching and training practice:

• Understanding roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training (12 GLH)

• Understanding and using inclusive teaching and learning approaches (24 GLH)

• Understanding the principles and practices of assessment (24 GLH)

These units develop essential skills in lesson planning, inclusive delivery, learner engagement and assessment, helping learners understand what effective teaching looks like in real-world environments.

As part of the qualification, learners will also complete at least one 15-minute microteaching session, alongside additional delivery or observation time to total one hour. Those already teaching or delivering training may use their existing practice to meet this requirement, making the course both practical and relevant to current roles.

Assessment is completed through written assignments, reflective activities and the microteaching session, all supported by tutor feedback. By the end of the programme, learners will have the knowledge, confidence and practical experience needed to step into teaching or training roles or progress onto higher-level qualifications within education and training.
