The Level 3 Teaching Assistant apprenticeship equips learners with the skills and behaviours needed to support teaching and learning in schools. It enables individuals to make a positive difference to pupils’ development while giving employers skilled staff who can strengthen the classroom environment.
The programme covers child development, supporting learning, assessment, technology in education and working as part of a school team. Learners gain practical experience in classrooms while building the knowledge to provide effective support to teachers and pupils.

All apprentices are required to have a minimum of Level 2 in English and Maths.
If you already hold GCSEs at grade C/4 or higher in these subjects, you will not need to complete any additional qualifications. If you have not yet achieved these grades, you will be supported to work towards Functional Skills in English and/or Maths as part of your apprenticeship.

Once learners have completed their training and reached Gateway they move on to the End-Point Assessment which takes place over a three-month period. This includes a practical observation with questions, a professional discussion and a portfolio of evidence. Learners who successfully complete the programme will achieve the Level 3 Teaching Assistant apprenticeship standard, a nationally recognised qualification that can lead to further roles in education or progression to higher-level teaching and support roles.
