Employer Tuesday: Why Apprenticeships Benefit Businesses as Much as Learners

It’s National Apprenticeship Week 2026, and today’s theme, Employer Tuesday, is the perfect opportunity to highlight a truth that is often overlooked: apprenticeships are as valuable to employers as they are to learners. While much of the conversation focuses on the skills, confidence, and career progression that apprentices gain, the impact on organisations themselves is equally significant.

Our 2025 Employer Survey makes this clear. 76% of employers agreed that apprentices add real value to day-to-day operations, while 81% reported that apprentices improve overall organisational capability. 80% of employers said apprentices apply their learning effectively in the workplace, and another 81% highlighted the career progression opportunities that apprenticeships provide. Satisfaction with Educationwise was high, with employers rating us 4.38 out of 5, and three quarters stating they would recommend us to other organisations.

These findings are supported by wider sector data too. The National Apprenticeship Service reports that 96% of employers with apprentices experience at least one benefit, with most being able to identify eight or more positive outcomes. From improved productivity to fresh ideas, apprenticeships bring measurable value across the board. They do more than develop future talent – they strengthen teams, enhance operations, and create a culture of learning within businesses.

At Educationwise, we see first-hand how apprentices contribute to growth, capability, and innovation in the workplaces we support. They offer employers the chance to shape their future workforce while also providing learners with meaningful, paid experience and structured training. Apprenticeships are not a fallback option – they are a first-choice pathway that delivers tangible benefits for everyone involved.

As Employer Tuesday reminds us, investing in apprenticeships is a win-win. Employers gain motivated, job-ready team members trained to their needs, learners develop real skills and career potential, and the wider economy benefits from a more capable, skilled workforce. This #NAW26, we want businesses to recognise that apprenticeships are not just an opportunity for learners, but a strategic investment that drives performance, engagement, and long-term success.

Educationwise is proud to work alongside employers to recruit, train, and support apprentices, ensuring that every programme delivers impact for the learner and the organisation alike. By embracing apprenticeships as a first-choice option, businesses can unlock new potential, build stronger teams, and make a lasting investment in their future workforce.
