Course Summary

The Aspiring Manager, Future Leader programme is designed for individuals working within the sport, health and fitness sectors who are ready to step into management and leadership roles. This CMI-recognised course supports progression into supervisory or first-line management positions by developing the practical skills needed to lead teams, drive performance and contribute to organisational success.

Pitched at a Level 3 standard, the programme develops knowledge, confidence and leadership capability without the pressure of formal exams or assessments. Instead, learners complete a series of applied leadership tasks and reflective activities that demonstrate real-world impact. It complements academic qualifications and aligns with industry-recognised leadership standards, making it suitable for both current professionals and recent graduates.

Delivered over approximately 40 guided learning hours at a flexible pace, learners can access high-quality digital resources anytime and work through the material around their personal and professional commitments. On completion, they receive a digital certificate of achievement endorsed by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and gain Foundation Chartered Manager (fCMgr) status — a fast track to professional recognition.

As part of the programme, learners receive full CMI membership. This provides access to exclusive leadership resources, career development tools, expert advice and webinars, as well as networking opportunities with professionals and industry leaders across the country.

Delivered by Educationwise, the course has been formally endorsed by CMI for its relevance to emerging leaders and its alignment with globally recognised leadership benchmarks. It offers a powerful way to boost employability and build the leadership skills that set individuals apart in the competitive sports business sector.

Learner Journey

Over a flexible programme totalling around 40 guided learning hours, learners will build the core knowledge and leadership skills required to take their first steps into management roles. Delivered through an intuitive remote learning platform, the course allows learners to study at their own pace, making it easy to balance with work or personal commitments.

The curriculum explores how the sport, health and fitness sectors operate and how to align teams with organisational strategy. Learners will also build essential leadership skills, including time management, emotional intelligence, motivation and decision-making. Content is delivered through practical leadership scenarios and self-reflective tasks that encourage applied learning and personal growth.

There are no exams or assessments. Instead, learners complete practical leadership activities and reflection exercises that demonstrate their development and readiness to lead. CMI membership included in the course gives access to a wide range of leadership tools, career resources and opportunities for professional networking.

By the end of the programme, learners will have gained a CMI-recognised leadership qualification, practical skills tailored to the sports business sector and Foundation Chartered Manager (fCMgr) status. No previous management experience is required — just a desire to grow professionally and make a positive impact.
