Course Summary

The Level 4 Sales Executive apprenticeship is designed for individuals responsible for managing the full sales cycle in Business-to-Business (B2B) or Business-to-Consumer (B2C) environments. Sales Executives lead prospecting, account management and sales closure activities, combining strong communication skills with in-depth product and market knowledge to drive growth and customer satisfaction.

Apprentices will learn how to plan and manage sales interactions, present compelling value propositions and tailor solutions to meet customer needs. They will also develop the ability to build lasting relationships, handle objections and differentiate their organisation in a competitive market.

Typical job titles for this role include Sales Consultant, Sales Specialist, Sales Advisor, Business Development Executive and Field Sales Executive. Regardless of sector, the role requires professionalism, resilience and a strong understanding of the sales process from lead generation through to conversion.

Learner Journey

Over a 15-month programme, apprentices develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours needed to succeed in a professional sales role. The course is delivered through weekly online sessions and quarterly face-to-face visits, with one-to-one support from a dedicated tutor throughout.

Learners also have access to a comprehensive suite of online learning and support materials to assist with their weekly off-the-job training. The programme combines theory and applied practice through classroom sessions, mentoring and structured development activities within the learner’s workplace.

At least 20 per cent of the apprenticeship must be completed as off-the-job training. These hours must be logged and evidenced, with full guidance provided during enrolment.

Assessment & Certification

Once learners have completed their training and reached Gateway, they move on to the End-Point Assessment, which takes place over a three-month period. This includes a work-based project, a presentation—including a sales pitch—with questions and answers and a professional discussion supported by a portfolio of evidence. Learners who successfully complete the programme will achieve the Level 4 Sales Executive apprenticeship standard, a nationally recognised qualification that supports career progression in sales and business development roles.
