Community Activator Coach

Level 2

12 Month Programme

A Community Activator Coach plays a crucial role in promoting active and healthy lifestyles, particularly for those who face barriers to participation. By employing an apprentice in this role, your organisation can expand its reach, deliver engaging sports and physical activity sessions, and foster greater community engagement.

These coaches are trained to plan, lead, and adapt activities to suit people of all ages and abilities, making sport and exercise more accessible. They work closely with local organisations—such as sports clubs, schools, health agencies, and community centres—to develop inclusive programmes that encourage long-term participation. Acting as role models, they help inspire individuals to stay active, improving physical and mental well-being within your community.

With flexible working hours, including evenings and weekends, Community Activator Coaches ensure activities are accessible when and where they are most needed. Their expertise makes them an asset to a wide range of roles, including Sports Coaches, Activity Coordinators, Community Development Officers, Leisure Centre Assistants, and Health and Wellbeing Advisors.

By investing in a Community Activator Coach apprentice, your organisation can build stronger community connections, improve health outcomes, and create lasting social impact.

Over a 12-month programme, learners develop the skills, knowledge, and behaviours necessary for the End-Point Assessment (EPA). This journey is supported by a blend of weekly online sessions and quarterly face-to-face visits, guided by a dedicated tutor. Learners will have access to online learning and support materials to assist with their weekly off-the-job training.

The programme includes classroom sessions, mentoring, off-site visits, and a structured 20% off-the-job training requirement. Learners must log evidence of learning activities that occur outside their regular work environment but contribute to their apprenticeship, with required hours discussed during enrolment.

At the Gateway stage, progress is reviewed to ensure readiness for the EPA, which takes place over a three-month period. The assessment includes a panel interview, a presentation with questions and answers, a practical observation, and portfolio assessment through professional discussion.
